Nutrient Survival Powdered Beverages to Power Your Brain

I received a package from Nutrient Survival in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them.

Whether spending time in the great outdoors hiking or just hanging out at home, I try to keep my body hydrated by drinking healthy beverages. So, I decided to sample some of Nutrient Survival Braincare beverage line. Not only do they come in an easy to prepare powder form, but they are also packaged in portable and storable pouches that are small enough to fit in a backpack. Therefore, it makes the perfect disaster preparedness product to keep in your pantry.  All you need to serve it is water or whatever liquid, intended for human consumption, you have on hand. Preparing any of the Nutrient Survival flavored powdered drinks are quite easy. Just add an appropriate liquid such as tea or fruit juices to a container. Then, give it a good shake or stir and sip away.

As an added bonus to keeping your body well hydrated, the Nutrient Survival beverages contain ingredients that are good for your brain health. For example, the chocolate flavored Brain shake. To me, this beverage smells like Coco Pebbles breakfast cereal. However, it has a nutty flavor as well as a very prevalent monk fruit presence. Thus, I think it would be a good idea to add a nut butter for creaminess. I used whole milk, but water or non-dairy milks should work too. I was able to mix this shake with a spoon, but I think it might be best to prepare this in a blender.

Nutrient Survival's Classic Roast Coffee is another drink from the Braincare line that I tried. I decided to make my cup an iced version. This drink did taste like a standard coffee. My overall favorite that I drank was the tropical lemonade. I added it to my favorite brand of orange juice. It reminds me of the fruit smoothies that can be ordered at Jamba Juice. The lemon flavor is more on the subtle side even though it did smell like pineapple. If these sound of interest to you, then click on the links below to stock up.

No One Ever Sleeps at Slumber Parties: Featuring the Bestway Tritech Air Mattress

Disclosure: I received a Bestway Mattress from Tryazon in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the link on this page if you decide to shop from it.

Since my friends and I have all been pretty busy working this summer, I thought it would be fun to host a no one ever sleeps slumber party. We took a break from job obligations and just had a relaxing night, at my place. No one could really spend the night, since they had to wake up early for work. However, my guests were willing to enjoy hanging out in their lounge wear whilst reclining upon the Bestway Tritech mattress. We watched a surprisingly good anime called Ruin Explorers, while munching on my homemade mini raspberry German jelly tarts and vegan nuggets.

The Bestway tritech mattress made the perfect furniture for my friends to hang out upon. Since, it is a full-size bed it was big enough for four people to stretch out comfortably without feeling claustrophobic. What I really love about this product is that it was quite simple to set up, before my slumber party guests arrived. To my shock and delight, it inflated super-fast. The bed is easy so I was able to take a quick nap in my living room, then move it out of sight after it had deflated. The built in pillow also makes for a swift clean up. On the other hand, the mattress may be left blown up for an extended period of time. Not only will it stay firmly inflated, but also the antimicrobial layer ensures it will remain sanitary. The cord has a little door that it can retract into, keeping it safely out of the way from someone tripping on it. The storage bag makes it portable, so you can pack the bed away. The bed can be taken on visits to a relative's house or camping trips where an extra place to sleep on comes in handy. Even though my friends were unable to actually sleep over at my no one ever really sleeps slumber party, they definitely got in some relaxation time on my super comfy new Bestway tritech mattress.

Azul Board Game with Themed Snack Ideas

Disclosure: I received this Asmodee game from Tryazon in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them.

Since my friends enjoy playing board games & tasting new recipes, I thought it would be fun to invite them over to play the Azul Board Game. They were able to munch on tasty themed snacks based on the game's tiles, which are the colorful playing pieces. The lemon bars were a big favorite among my guests. Not only did they admire the way the lemon bars resembled the square shaped tiles, but they were similarly decorated with chopped pistachios to mimic the tile's patterns. Additionally, I served sliced cucumbers. They were cut up in circles, as a homage to honeycomb mosaic patterns.

The Azul Board Game is intended for 2-4 players. If you really love art and are good at math, then you are in for a fun time.  The object of the game is to imagine that you are an artisan placing colorful tiles on a wall. Players must make patterns using the least amount of tiles possible. Azul is a super strategic game; since, your moves will be affected by what the person who goes before and after you do. For example, if you had planned to take 2 red tiles from the factory, but someone takes them before you do, then This could cause you to get 4 red tiles from the center of the table. Therefore, at least 1 tile would have to be placed on the floor line resulting in a 1-point minimum loss.  note that the main goal of competing to complete the beautification of the wall of the Evora palace is a big win for fans, like me, of the royalty genre.

Animation director Dan Riba Interview: Superheroes are his special directorial power

Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

Some kids grow up just pretending to be their favorite superheroes.  Fortunately, animation director Dan Riba took it a step further and actually decided to draw his childhood action figure toys on paper. His love for the superhero genre began developing at a very early age, as he spent hours building an imaginary world around his action figures. This would become the foundation of the incredible visionary director who basically works on all the globally known and iconic Superheroes animated television series. The beauty of being an animator creator is that your artwork can be transformed from a still drawing to moving footage with voiceover. Dan's job as director is likened to being the Captain of a crime fighting Superhero Team except these heroes are armed with animator power. As Captain Animator, what makes the production team work seamlessly together under his creative vision is his leadership abilities to capture the audience's attention. Being a three time Daytime Emmy Award Winner recipient for Freakazoid, The New Batman/Superman Adventures, and Batman Beyond is certainly proof that Superheroes are his special Directorial power.

1.   How would you describe your fashion style for promotions events vs personal everyday wear?

I wear what is comfortable. I used to wear a red shirt & black pants most of the time when I was back at Warner Bros. My convention attire is usually a show or character themed T-shirt or crew shirt with a loose Hawaiian or solid color short sleeved shirt. I wear a fanny pack so much that it is my signature. I picked up the habit of using them while I was in Japan in 1985. That was where the trend started, I think. People mostly use them now for jogging. I wear them because I have an attachment to things.  I think it is my way of honoring Batman's utility belt.

2. What recent fashion trend have you noticed and considered trying, even though they may be a little out of your comfort zone? (During our conversation we spoke about if I had seen the new red boot trend. I recall you mentioning that you were not sure if you would wear them yourself, but you seemed pretty fascinated by these then.)

I think that inflated pants trend that the fashion shows were showcasing a year ago or so. I think they look incredibly stupid….and yet a part of me wants to try them on and wear them around.

3. Which theme song from anything you worked on is your favorite?

I love so many of the theme songs. The Justice League & Justice League Unlimited are great but, the one that I love the most is the Batman Beyond theme.

4. What was your favorite toy or activity from your childhood? Were you an avid comic book reader?

I loved my toys as a kid & my hands down favorite was the Captain Action figure. We didn’t call them dolls. He could be dressed up as any hero. I had Captain America and the Flash Gordon and Aquaman that first Christmas, then later on the released Spider-man. I was able to recreate my favorite scenes from the comics with him. I got Superman later on and put the Dr. Evil tunic on him & drew a moustache & grey temples and made him into Dr. Strange.

5.  Were you an avid comic book reader?

Yes. I started with Donald Duck & Richie Rich & graduated to the superheroes, both Marvel and DC. I loved Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko’s work, Wallace Wood, Al Willamson, Jim Steranko, Neal Adams, Berni Wrightson, & Jack Cole. Later on, I discovered Will Eisner’s work and that was my biggest inspiration.  It blew my mind that I got to go to School of Visual Arts and Eisner was my teacher. And then on my first in house job in animation, Doug Wildey the creator of Jonny Quest and Jack Kirby were both freelancers and showed up every week. I actually got to ink Jack Kirby’s presentation art!!!!

6.  What character do you wish fans cosplayed as more often?

There are so many that have been done so many times but, I only saw ONE Freakzoid at a con a few years ago and he was wild…it made me very happy. So, more Freakzoids would be fun to see.

7. What makes you feel like a superhero? What everyday talent do you have that could be similar to having a superpower?

Helping people. Whether giving a friend a ride or donating to a shelter.  Any time I do something for somebody I feel like a superhero.

8. What everyday talent do you have that could be similar to having a superpower?

I’m told I listen well so, that could be a power. I think it’s my fanny pack or pouch. It really is my utility belt. I keep everything I need in it.

9. . What item in your fanny pack/utility belt have you found to be most useful?

Phone chargers. I also used to carry a small Swiss army knife type device with pliers and screwdrivers in case of emergencies. I also used to carry a lighter even though I don't smoke.

10. What reference in Freakazoid did you find to be the most humorous?

My favorite Freafazoid  reference is the way he pretends to fly while running. I used to do that as a kid and it is still so much fun to do. I even came out on stage doing it.

11. Since I am a fan of anime and Japanese culture, I really enjoyed hearing about your travels to Asia, in particular the short time you spent in Japan, working on Freakazoid. Besides watching the avant-garde band The Residents perform on a rooftop rockin' giant eyeballs and dapper tuxedos. Was there anything that you did there that caught your attention enough to influence you?

In general, seeing how the Japanese work was inspiring to me and affected me. I saw young people sleeping under their desks from the crazy schedules.  I saw how the backgrounds were painted & the cameraman’s setup with all of the special tools used for effects, all obsolete now because of the digital inking.

12. What advice do you have for an aspiring director?

Try to be open to your storyboarder’s ideas. Some directors have a narrow vision of what they want to see and if they don’t communicate that well to the board artist, they don’t deliver that vision exactly. But I try to be receptive to input. Animation is a collaboration. If people don’t feel they are contributing creatively they won’t give you their best efforts. When I talk to young people starting out, they all think that they are going to be the next big creator, like Pen Ward or Rebecca Sugar. It usually doesn’t work out that way. It is important to have dreams. But, for a long career it is just as important to be able to graft your taste & skills to someone else’s dream and to be versatile.

13. What film or TV series made you want to become a director?

So many shows inspired me as a child. Astroboy, Jonny Quest, Speed Racer, The Fantastic Four, Spiderman, &  Space Ghost. But I don’t think I was inspired to direct until I was watching the Japanese shows while in college, Cyborg 009 and Captain Harlock. I was also inspired by comic books, Will Eisner’s The Spirit was a big influence, that more than anything.

14. How much input do you get in regard to costume design?

The costume design depends on the project. I used to have a little when I was in design at Batman but, it was less and less as the shows went on. I put a WW1 flight cap on the Penguin for an episode I directed & drew it myself. Because the crew was so overwhelmed with making the Batman Beyond DVD while we were still making the show, I have to do rough designs for incidentals and some villains. But mostly we have an art director that calls the shots.

15. Of those not already adapted into a live action version, which one of your animated works would you love to see become a live action movie?

I usually think that live action adaptations aren’t really better than the cartoon versions, so I don’t think cartoons needs to be adapted to be legitimate. BUT, I have wondered what a Batman Beyond live action would be like. I would be very curious to see how a live action Freakazoid could possibly work. It would have to be completely freeform like Monty Python…nutty. I don’t know it would work as a series or a movie but, maybe as a short or a commercial.

16. Do you have any upcoming appearances?

I do commission covers from time to time, & may be setting up another cover signing & commission session with CGC this year.

Spa Night

Disclosure: I received a free sample pack from Tryazon in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them.

I love a relaxing spa day. Nail art is one of my favorite ways to get really creative. I also love playing around with creating different hairstyles.  After a busy week of self tape auditions and working at my parents entertainment law firm as their talent scout,  I decided that the weekend would be a great time to just kick back and pamper myself with a fun mini spa night at home.

I'm a really big fan of Harry Styles fashion choices. Using the Go Glam Nail Salon,  I painted a multi-colored mani using the provided polish. Then I added the cheetah print and butterflies stamps. This look was inspired by Harry's Gucci Cruise 2020 fashion show arrival manicure which were painted pretty shades of pink and green.  I really liked how vibrant the stamps' designs looked applied on top of the nail polish. What the image stylist in me would really love to see is Harry wearing  a similar bold design on his nails. Not only would the bright pattern stand out in photo and video shoots, but it would also perhaps become a new Harry Styles nail art trend.
Go Glam Nail Salon

For the Hollywood Extension Maker, I enjoyed using the markers to draw different patterns on the hair extensions.  I usually incorporate a bit of my own personal style, which is based off of my love of cosplay fashions into my daily looks.  So, I thought it would be cool to do my hair in that manner by  creating a cute buns & hairclip hairstyle inspired by the anime character Roko from Ochikobore Fruit Tart. She has long purple hair with a hairclip & wears a blue patterned jacket. Thus, I chose the purple and blue extensions as a homage to her color scheme.

No spa day could be complete without a pedicure. This time there was a twist.  Instead of a pre-pedicure soak  in plain old water,  I placed my feet in a fun sensory experience known as the Orbeez Soothing Spa. It was entertaining to watch the Orbeez's ,which are multi-colored balls that look just like popping boba tea pearls, expand in the water. Finally I indulged in a pedicure using the Orbeez sheer pink glitter nail polish which was the hint of sparkle I needed to feel girly and glam.  What a perfect way to end my spa session with a feeling of being pampered head to toe.

Additionally I am wearing some of my own designs, The Queenie4ever "Queenie Bubble Bath" T-shirt and Kimono Project Leggings. If you are interested in the leggings please send us an e-mail at info@Queenie4ever.com  The shirt can be purchased at Cafepress, there are a few color and shirt style options.

Youtube Star Ricky Ficarelli Interview - "My Prince Charming is the Drummer" by Tatiana Mclane

Hey girls! I have to warn you that you won't be able to contain your emotions if you ever get lucky enough to meet the most adorable under 25 drummer on the planet right now. Yup! I'm talking about Youtube star Ricky Ficarelli. The 20 year old handsome Italian hottie sports a mop top head of wavy brown hair, big brown eyes, and a naughty smile even while he's rocking out on his drum set to a cover of your favorite song or playing with his new band King The Kid.

I got the chance to meet Ricky for the first time the day after I had spent an entire day modeling for Betsey Johnson for her Prom line at her Topanga Mall Boutique. Playing the part of a gothic prom queen can be fun, but it is exhausting playing a human mannequin posing in a store window while shoppers gawk at you. So, I can somewhat relate to how Ricky must feel when he has a whole venue of girls fans screaming his name or trying to a sneak peek through his tour bus curtains. It's exciting, yet a little creepy! lol! Back to my first Ricky Ficarelli encounter. I was eating with my music lawyer parents who rep Ricky at a restaurant on Venice Beach Boardwalk. I was still groggy from yesterday's modeling gig, so I was sporting a pair of sunglasses to hide my tired eyes when my Dad waves a gorgeous guy over to our table. God! I scream on the inside. This guy is so cute! I slowly push my chair back and try not to fall over as his hotness has made me weak in the knees. Finally in an upright position, I put on my sweetest smile as my dad introduces me to the hottest drummer on earth! Thanks Papa! It's times like this that I thank my lucky stars I'm your daughter.

Old School Lois Lane style, I take out my notepad and trusty pen and walk out of the restaurant into the Venice Beach sunshine to conduct my interview with Ricky. He tags along like an eager puppy dog following me to spot smack dab in the middle of the Boardwalk. But, hey I thought it was a cool place for an interview for a first timer from Wellington, Florida to talk about himself while hanging out amongst the cool California Venice Beach crowd.

Ricky was eloquent and pretty precise about what he wanted to do with his music career. He began drumming at a very early age after discovering an old drum kit of his Dad's. He was a natural. And his parents picked up on his amazing musical talents eventually hiring a drum instructor and supporting their son's desire to become a professional drummer. Richard Sr and Karen should be proud of their son's accomplishments as he has become one of the world's most famous Youtube drummers under age 25. With millions of hits on his Youtube drum cover videos, his dreams of drumming for a living have become a reality. Headlining the Digitour twice was a super nice treat for his Youtube fans to see him drumming live for other Youtube stars including Dave Daves.

Youtube drum cover fame wasn't enough for ambitious Ricky Ficarelli. He wanted to play with his own band and tour the world, so he could finally meet his fans in person and not just on the internet via Youtube. I am so glad he finally put together an amazing band! With a regal moniker "King The Kid", these three guys are destined to rule the pop rock world.

I was really into Dragon Ball Z during my childhood. I had all of the action figures. I still actually play the video games.

Of my videos the cover of K$sha’s We R Who We R. Of other Youtubers I like Ray Williams Johnson and Dave Days.

13. What advice would you give to someone who wants to start drumming or become a musician?
You should jam with other musicians who are better than you so that you can learn from them.

14. What’s next for Ricky Ficarelli?
The King The Kid Tour. Depending on the success of the tour I might have some cool opportunities coming up.

AARON CARTER INTERVIEW - POP PRINCE FOREVER By Tatiana Mclane

AARON CARTER: " I only choose to remember what I  never wish to forget"

Aaron Carter is living proof that fairy tales are real. From a very young age he had a dream to become a professional entertainer. He has more than fulfilled his childhood dreams when he became an iconic 90s pop star adored by fans around the world screaming his name at concerts and mouthing the words of his chart topping hit songs such as " I Want Candy", "I've got a crush on you" and " How I beat Shaq". I have firsthand experience of his charismatic powers because I was one of those little girls who fell under his spell while her Daddy held her up on his shoulders during his concerts to get a peak at her favorite singer over the sea of adoring fans jumping up and down and basically going nuts for the golden headed boy on stage who made every girl alive wish her name was "Candy".

I am now embarrassed to admit that my mouth gaped open when he walked by my table unexpectedly at the House Of Blues Sunset Strip. After all he was my 7 year old pop star crush! Aaron Carter was and shall ever be the pop prince charming of my dreams, so I find it magical that our paths keep crossing as our lives seem to intertwine with our pursuit of entertainment related careers. Aaron as a singer and mine as a fashion designer.

My first encounter with him was when I attended Aaron's Birthday Party at age 8 or 9. My entertainment lawyer parents had somehow gotten us on the guest list. It was no secret that he loved to collect beanie babies just as much as I did, so I insisted on buying him a beanie baby as a birthday present. I vaguely remember someone dragging me by the hand over to where Aaron was playing basketball. But, I didn't forget that he was taller than me and he kept hitting me in the head with his elbows as he dribbled around me. It still feels like a dream to me. A few years later, we met again.

This time, I was promoting my Fashion Brand Queenie4ever in the celebrity gifting suite at the MTV Movie Awards. I was 12 years old and I had no idea he was about to walk over to my table with his brother and sisters in tow. What was surprising was that he insisted that he had met me before. I assumed he was referring to his birthday party since I seriously could not remember until my mom tried to remind me. However, I do remember giving him and  his big brother Nick Carter my "I Heart Chinatown" T-shirts and we stood together for a WireImage photographer to take our PR photos. I loved the cute interaction between the Carter brothers as Aaron pretended to take a bite out of my fortune cookie logo while Nick laughed!  Aaron  spent a lot of time looking through my design scrapbook and asking me a lot of questions about myself and my company.

At the time, I felt he had a heart of gold because most celebrities just kind of rushed through the Hellos and photo op without really taking the time to get to know me or ask about my designs. A week or so later, a producer from "The House Of Carter's" Reality Show contacted me to  let me know that Aaron wore my T-shirt on the show in the "Dinner Time" episode. Aaron had kept his promise! His act of kindness to a young teen girl trying her best to compete with famous name brands run by adults turned out to be an amazing turning point in my fashion career. I was overcome with shock when the producer asked me if I would like to shoot a pilot for my own reality show for MTV based on the fact that I was a teen entrepreneur who had A list celebrities including Aaron Carter wearing my fashion designs!

Since that encounter,  I never stopped liking Aaron Carter's music and I kept track of his career even though he wasn't touring anymore. While he was over at CBS Studios filming "Dancing with the Stars" I was busy presenting my first runway collection during L.A. fashion Week literally a block a away on West 3rd St. One of my first celebrity supporters, Melissa Joan Hart, was also competing that night with Aaron. So, she could not attend my show, but she sent her mom and sisters to cheer me on. I remember mentioning my fondness for Aaron to them when they asked me to vote for Melissa. I was perplexed as to who to vote for!

Jump to 2013 and my parents decide to postpone my spring break trip to New York to meet with the production team I am co producing a short film " It Don't Come Easy" starring actress Evanna Lynch (Harry Potter's Luna Lovegood). As I sadly waved goodbye to my opportunity to see my favorite pop star on Broadway,  I find out (yes I follow him on Twitter and that's how I found out the news)  he is leaving "The Fantasticks" and going on tour! What? That is so surreal...And he's coming to perform in Agoura which is located near my home town? My heart is smiling again! I am so excited for not only myself but all of Aaron's fans who like myself cannot get enough of listening to his infectious songs and watching his killer dance moves.

Here's a bit of advice. If you are feeling depressed you really just need a dose of Aaron and he will cure you of your sad mood. You have to experience seeing Aaron Carter perform live on his "After Party Tour" to understand what I mean when I say he makes you feel happy to be alive! The great energy he exudes from stage makes the girls go wild. Seriously, I was almost lost and trampled under the surge of the crowd as his fans went wild trying to get as close to the front of the stage as possible while jumping up and down, screaming, and waving their hands in the air as he encouraged them to basically go nuts!

This was a far cry from the serene backstage room I had just hung out in with Aaron before the show and the madness of his After Party went into high swing once he hit the stage. I am one lucky girl to be able to spend time with her childhood Pop Star crush Aaron Carter one on one backstage me asking him interview questions and he lounging on a couch across from me answering my questions. I wasn't sure what to expect since I haven't seen him in years but up close he looks amazing. He has grown into an extremely handsome man with a more mature attitude about life and his professional career as a singer. He still wants to make his fans happy but he knows that he has to make himself happy as well. I can see it written in his face the signs of success and struggles that come along with being famous. But he wears the pop star moniker well  just as if it was a second skin.

Perhaps because he started performing in the limelight at such a young age he has had many years to get accustomed to the celebrity lifestyle. Yet, he is just as down to earth and normal as his fans. He loves the same movies, hanging out with friends and doing silly stuff that only friends will let you get away with, he mentions his key to success and the important role his family played, offers advice for aspiring artists, and  talks a little bit about the new album he is really excited to be recording.  Also, he tells us how he makes girls feel like a princess. When you read his answer you will understand why he is mine and all of his fans all over the world's pop prince charming. True to his princely and charming personality he began and ended our meeting with big hugs and sweet kisses.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done for me out of the goodness of your soul. 1.  How would you describe your clothing style for your current tour and is it any different from what you wear every day?
Not really that different. Fitted caps. Denim jackets. American flag themed t-shirt. I pretty much have a certain image I stick to. If I have an event that's more dressy I will wear a suit.

2.  What item of clothing that you own makes you feel like a Prince Charming when you wear it?
White clothes. I have a part of my set where I change to white clothes.

3.  How did you determine the set list?
I based it on my past stuff in my previous albums. The songs that meant the most to me. Ultimately, what I thought my fans wanted to hear from me.

4. What is the most fulfilling part of performing live?

The energy I get from the fans and doing what I love back on stage. I get to do what I love again.

5. Which do you prefer more performing on an indoor or an outdoor stage and why?
I like both. It’s fun to perform on either.

6. Is there a particular charity that you are passionate about?
The charity for my sister that passed away last year. To give help to kids who need help with rehab.

7. Do you have a motto that you live by?

I only choose to remember what I never wish to forget.

8. How do you make the women in your life feel like Princesses?
Treat them with respect. Tell them they look pretty all the time. Just be there to catch them when they fall.

9. What is your favorite Beanie Baby?
Flutter the butterfly.

10. What is the most exciting thing that has happened to you thus far on your current tour?
Somebody came onto the stage and started doing backhand springs.

I went up into the mountains with two of my buddies and listened to the Lord of the Rings sound track and danced around like we were hobbits.

16. What do you think is the key or secret to your success?
Probably my upbringing. Especially my mom who dedicated a lot of passion for me and my career.

17. What advice would you give to an aspiring entertainer who looks up to you as a role model?
Performing can be something like a routine that you are performing because you really just like doing it naturally and not because you are being forced to or you are getting paid to do it because it's part of a job.  It is important to understand the difference between being an entertainer and where you truly came from. Always stay appreciative of the people who help you.
