BOARD GAME NIGHT

Disclosure: I received Akibabus's The Witches Annual Race & Boxitale: Knight's of Nature for free from Tryazon in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them.

The Witches Annual Race Board Game by Akibabus is best played with three people: One judge and two players. Each player is assigned two boards, placed side by side, to create a larger playing field. The main features of the game are a dry erase marker, used to draw your path in a variety of patterns, and a set of cards that direct you to complete tasks, in order to advance through a series of roadblocks. The objective is to finish the fastest in order to win against your opponent. I like how the cards also make it a game of chance. For instance, one card could allow you to advance very fast while another card drawn could make your opponent become stuck in another area. Thus, it combines a bit of luck for one player to win over another. This partial lack of control in the outcome, makes the game really exciting, as you continue drawing cards that could be your friend or foe. On the other hand, players have much more control over using the dry erase marker in determining the outcome. This game requires concentration, so it's best for someone who likes to play a game of wits.

The second game BoxiTale: Knights of Nature by Akibabus also requires concentration. However, it is more about playing at your own pace. Since, players are allowed to take their time to complete the tasks. Note that prior to starting the game, players need a device capable of downloading an App. This will instruct you to build the 3D game board and show the game itself. Basically, the game consists of watching a video in order to advance to the next step. In the video a robot instructs the players what to add to your game board through a series of tasks to complete such as what to object to construct, color, or puzzle to solve etc...  For example, it may tell you to build an origami boat or construct a ladder and then add those items to your game board. Next, players must photograph their completed project. There is no winner or loser. Being an only child, I really like this game because it is set up to be played solo or you could share half and half with one other person. I found Knights of Nature to be a unique immersive experience. I have never seen or played anything quite like it. The closest comparison would be if the PBS show Cyberchase which featured craft supplies that you could use to do whatever educational task they are doing.

A  fun board game night dessert I made was a cake inspired by The Witches Annual Race Game Board. I added several decorative ingredients. The White chocolate chips represented the boulders, the Golden Grahams appear to look like the witches' houses when placed on top of the cake, and the sparkler candles, when lit gave off a glow to imitate the teleport tunnel towers. It was a tasty & easy to bake treat that made my board game night extra special by giving it a magical and festive party atmosphere.

HOMEMADE JAPANESE MILK BREAD USING PDJW'S CYAN BAKING MOLD

Disclosure: I received the cyan baking mold for free from PDJW in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the link on this page if you decide to shop from them.

One of my hobbies is baking. In particular, I enjoy trying to recreate my favorite Japanese foods at home. Since I have never made bread before, I thought it was best to find an easy recipe with simple instructions for Japanese milk bread buns. This is one of  my favorite types of bread to eat with my dinner or as a grab and go snack. Typically this type of bread is thick and square shaped, but mine are thinner ovals. I recommend eating it with a bit of butter as it makes the bread more flavorful and soft. But, you can use  your favorite spread. I'm sure whatever you choose will be really delicious, as the plain bread by itself makes a good base for a variety of flavored toppings.

Using the Baking mold to make this recipe for Japanese milk bread was an easy process. After mixing all the ingredients together to make a big dough ball, I placed it in a covered bowl and let it rise in my oven that has not yet been heated for 2 hours. Since, the dough needs to rise in a warm dry place. Knead it again. Cut it into 8 balls and repeat the rising process. I had to be patient while waiting for the dough to rise twice for an additional hour. When the dough was finally ready to be added to the mold, I found it to be a simple task because I was able to gage the size of the dough needed to fill each individual section by eye balling if the dough ball would fit. I then shaped and pressed it into ovals until it filled the entire space. I correctly assumed it would hold the shape if I spread it out evenly. The bread dough rose and spread out to fill the space making little loaves. As an added bonus, it made my house smell like a bakery when I opened the oven to remove the pan.

The silicone material made this a light weight and flexible mold to work with. I made sure to use two oven mitts to handle it, keep it steady. This way I did not burn my hands and I had a good grip on the edges. Also, silicone is supposed to be nonstick. However, I decided to grease it using a little vegetable oil. But, it probably would have been fine without. I was able to cleanly pop out the 8 mini loaves of milk bread using the pink spatula from PDJW. Lastly, I like that the color is bright enough to easily spot in a dark cupboard. Besides, bright cheerful colors make me feel happy & excited to bake.

The recipe is from YouTube user HowTasty. I think the measurements may vary slightly in the video, which is what I followed.

Ingredients: Makes 12 medium size milk rolls

70 g (1/3 cup - 70 ml)

Milk, lukewarm 30 g (2 tablespoons - 35 ml)

Water, lukewarm 3-4 g (about 1 teaspoon)

Active Dry Yeast 30 g (2 tablespoons)

Unsalted Butter, melted 30 g (about 1/2)

Egg, beaten: set aside the leftover egg for brushing the top. 220-230 g (1 3/4 cups)

All Purpose Flour 3 g (1/2 teaspoon)

Salt 20 g (1 1/2 tablespoons) Sugar

For topping: Egg, beaten (the leftover of the egg that you use for the dough) 20 g (about 1 tablespoon)

unsalted butter, cubed

Directions: In a small size bowl, pour water and milk and add the dry yeast: mix until dissolves. In a big size bowl mix the dry ingredients: flour, salt and sugar. In the yeast mix add beaten egg and melted butter and mix. Add the yeast mix to the flour mix and combine with a spatula until well combined and get a little sticky dough (not too wet)* *NOTE: The consistency of your dough may vary depending of your flour. If your dough seems too wet, you can add up to 1-3 tbsp more flour until the dough comes together; if it seems too dry, you can add up to 1-2 tablespoons of milk. Sprinkle with a little flour (not use too much flour!) a surface and knead the dough for 10 minutes and make it round. You'll get a soft, smooth, elastic and not sticky dough. Put the dough in a greased big size bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place** until double in size (about 1 1/2 - 2 hours). **You can heat your oven at the lowest temperature for about 3-5 minutes, then turn it off and place the dough into the slightly warm oven to rise it. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and make them round. Cover the balls with plastic wrap, with a kitchen towel and let them rest for 15 minutes. After resting, flat the balls, round and smooth the surface until get a round smooth ball. Place them in a pan 11x7 inch (28x18 cm)*** lined with parchment paper and greased. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place until double in size (about 1 1/2 hour). *** You can also use 9 inch (24 cm) round pan. Brush with beaten egg, add the cubed butter on top and bake in preheated oven at 390° F (200° C) for about 15 minutes or until browned.

Happy Feet With Everlasting Comfort Foot Rest

Disclosure: I received adjustable travel foot rest for free from Everlasting Comfort in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the link on this page if you decide to shop from them using the discount code.

My family has been going to the drive in movie theater at least once a month recently. And I really like to get super comfortable while sitting in the back seat. One way to relax is by putting my feet up. So I really like that Everlasting Comfort's adjustable travel foot rest allows me to place my feet in its' hammock. Thus, it helps take the pressure off of my back as it elevates my feet to a more comfortable position. Also, I like how the memory foam material conforms to my feet, acting  like a second skin.  Another feature that makes the foot hammock such a great product are the adjustable straps that allow you to make it any height you desire. You can get 20% off, any product from their website, using the discount code: venicemusiclawyer

Most recently, we planned a road trip, because I really wanted to see Coming to America 2. The closest drive in theater it was playing at is located 2 hours away from our home. It's not easy sitting in a car for such a long amount of time. Usually my body begins to ache a little, but luckily I had installed my new foot hammock in the back seat.  I noticed that resting my feet in it for the car ride helped my body relax,  as well as my feet didn't feel as cramped. I was so glad that I arrived feeling eager to see the film, thanks to my comfy foot rest, so I could continue to sit back with my happy feet up and enjoy watching the talented costume designer Ruth E. Carter's incredible costume designs come to life as they were revealed larger than life on the big screen. I was excited to see how she was able to incorporate all the research she did for Black Panther, into making stunning costumes for another movie.

PINK KITCHEN UTENSILS PRETTY AND PRACTICAL

Disclosure: I received the kitchen cooking utensils for free from PDJW in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the link on this page if you decide to shop from them.

My mom and I adore anything pink, so you can only imagine how excited we were when we received these pink kitchen cooking utensils from PDJW. These pretty pink utensils fit perfectly in with our home decor's pink aesthetic. Color coordinating our cooking utensils with our pink kitchen appliances really makes the room feel less bland and boring as well as makes us feel a bit more like we've stepped into a Barbie doll dream house.

Not only are these pink utensils pretty to look at, but they are also useful to help our meal preparation move more quickly and easily. For instance, they have easy to grip handles that make stirring, whisking, and scraping etc. a breeze. And we really like that they were easy to clean by simply hand washing in warm soapy water. Also, we appreciate that they come in a large pink bucket,  since it does not take up a lot of counter space or junk up your drawers.  It certainly cuts down on prep time when you have all your cooking utensils in one container that's visible on the counter. We try to avoid having to dig through drawers to find what utensils are needed.

My mom and I like to cook dinner together when we have time. We treat this time like a small girls only dinner party for two.  So, we start by planning our menu, and we take turns cooking. For this little dinner soiree,  we decided to make it a pasta and cookie night which are two of our favorite dishes that pair well together. A savory warm pasta primavera lemon parmesan sauce is really hearty as well as healthy.  We used the meal delivery kit from Hello Fresh, but we modified the recipe slightly to suit our tastes. First we read the instructions, then we got out all the pots and pans as well as our new pink cooking utensils that the recipe calls for. Secondly, we followed the recipe's preparation instructions, from cutting up vegetables to boiling the pasta before stirring in all the ingredients in the same pot we used to boil the pasta. While the pasta was boiling, we put the Pillsbury Lucky Charm cookie dough on a baking sheet. So, it was ready to pop in the oven 25 minutes prior to draining the pasta water . This way both our pasta and cookies were ready to serve at the same time.

Organization is key to making sure your prep time is kept to a minimum, thus we can have more time to relax and enjoy our meal. It takes longer to prepare your food when you are searching around in your cupboards trying to find a spoon to stir your pot while the food begins to stick together. That's always stressful. Therefore,  we try to avoid those mishaps by using these pretty pink and practical kitchen ware. We are so happy that we now have these easy to use, easy to clean, and easily the winner of the prettiest pink kitchen cooking utensils in our book!

IMPRESSED BY THE FRENCH PRESS

Disclosure: I received the French Press for free from Cafe du Chateau in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the link on this page if you decide to shop from them using the discount code.

My mom and I enjoy a daily hot cup of tea or coffee at any time of day. We typically are in a rush, as an on the go music lawyer mom and busy working actress. It is most convenient for us to make a quick cup in the microwave or purchase a grab and go from our favorite cafes. Since that can get expensive, we are very happy to discover how easy it is to make our own fancy tea and coffee at home by using the French Press by Cafe du Chateau. Hence, we can now enjoy the flavor of a hot beverage, we usually pay someone else to prepare, anytime. Furthermore, being our own baristas is a lot of fun!

The French Press is a great addition to your kitchen. It comes with easy to follow instructions and a lifetime guarantee. I am particularly fond of the sleek and modern design. Also, using the plunger is enjoyable, as it is similar to pushing a button and a hot homemade beverage magically appears. Please note that it makes a very strong tasting brew, and the carafe can get a bit heavy if you want to fill it up entirely. BAKING FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH TRULY GRASS FED CHEESE

Disclosure: I received a free sample pack & recipe guide from Tryazon in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the link on this page if you decide to shop from it.

My mom and I baked a batch of honey & natural sharp cheddar cheese scones using Truly Grass Fed's cheddar cheese from Ireland. Thank goodness the recipe we used was easy to follow. We have never made scones before. So,  it was a little like teaching ourselves the art of scone making. We really like to discover new recipes and try them out. The only scones we have tasted are the sweet types served at high tea. These are typically accompanied by lemon curd, clotted cream, or jam. Thus, we were excited to make a savory cheddar cheese flavored scone. It took about half an hour to prepare the scone mix using our electric mixer. We laid the dough on a sheet of wax paper to shape it into a large rectangle that we cut into thirds, length wise. Then, we cut smaller squares from each rectangle which we then sliced in 1/2 to create the triangle shaped scones the recipe called for.

Cookies are one of our favorite things to bake together. Known for being a picky eater, who never said no to a cookie, my great grandpa used to call my mom the cookie monster. Stars are a fun & versatile shape that can be decorated for any occasion. We used a large star shaped cookie cutter, provided by Truly Grass Fed, to make a couple dozen stars shaped butterscotch latte cookies. They were very delicious. In fact, I was delighted that they tasted similar to one of my favorite drinks, the hot butterbeer, from the Harry Potter series. Again, we decided to try out another new recipe. It also turned out to be pretty easy to follow just like the savory cheddar scone one. One tip, is that we find it makes the process of following the recipe steps much easier if we gather all the ingredients first. Have everything measured & lay it out neatly next to the electric mixer. Don't forget to pre-heat the oven. We find that an electric mixer blends the ingredients evenly and quickly. However, not everyone has a mixer, so it's okay to mix it by hand using a large spoon or spatula. We've done that before for other recipes, & it turns out fine. One last tip is, if you want to use the cookie cutter method for the butterscotch latte cookies, don't add the chips in until after you've cut the shapes out. Don't fold in the chips. Instead, place them on top of the cookies before baking. You also have the option of decorating with icing. Happy Holiday baking everyone!

Mom & Me Matching Christmas Aprons

Disclosure: I received two aprons for free from Dapper&Doll  in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the link on this page if you decide to shop from them.

Christmas is a special time for my mom & me. We enjoy baking at home & dressing up for the festive occasion, in matching holiday themed aprons like the ones we are wearing. Not only is the print super cute with its' various decorated Christmas tree theme, but they are also very comfortable and large enough to protect your clothes. What we really appreciate about the design is the large pocket and adjustable neck strap. The print and style is gender neutral and offered in a variety of sizes from kids to adult. You can save 15% on Dapper&Doll’s Christmas Aprons with special discount code Y9DPGYSR https://amzn.to/3t1niHn

Since we  run a parent and child small business, Queenie4ever, it is important to us to support other independent small family run businesses like Dapper&Doll. It's  run by mom Kirsten Chong & her son Timmy, who are currently offering these limited edition Christmas aprons. How many times have you received a gift that ends up in a box in the back of  your closet? This would not be the case, for anyone on your gift list, who loves to look stylish while baking during the holiday season. If you buy multiples, then it will surely encourage family members to tie on matching aprons and have fun make new and old recipes to celebrate Christmas. It certainly gave my mom and I an excuse to break out our baking pans and make a batch of delicious decorated sugar cookies.

Every year my mom and I typically make sugar cookies using cookie cutters. We always have a lot of fun getting creative while decorating the cookies with colored icings. Usually we use a gingerbread person style of cookie cutter so that we can decorate them to look like our family members. But this year, we decided to make our cookies look like the decorated Christmas trees on our new Dapper&Doll aprons.

Spa Night

Disclosure: I received a free sample pack from Tryazon in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I may collect a share of sales from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them.

I love a relaxing spa day. Nail art is one of my favorite ways to get really creative. I also love playing around with creating different hairstyles.  After a busy week of self tape auditions and working at my parents entertainment law firm as their talent scout,  I decided that the weekend would be a great time to just kick back and pamper myself with a fun mini spa night at home.

I'm a really big fan of Harry Styles fashion choices. Using the Go Glam Nail Salon,  I painted a multi-colored mani using the provided polish. Then I added the cheetah print and butterflies stamps. This look was inspired by Harry's Gucci Cruise 2020 fashion show arrival manicure which were painted pretty shades of pink and green.  I really liked how vibrant the stamps' designs looked applied on top of the nail polish. What the image stylist in me would really love to see is Harry wearing  a similar bold design on his nails. Not only would the bright pattern stand out in photo and video shoots, but it would also perhaps become a new Harry Styles nail art trend.
Go Glam Nail Salon

For the Hollywood Extension Maker, I enjoyed using the markers to draw different patterns on the hair extensions.  I usually incorporate a bit of my own personal style, which is based off of my love of cosplay fashions into my daily looks.  So, I thought it would be cool to do my hair in that manner by  creating a cute buns & hairclip hairstyle inspired by the anime character Roko from Ochikobore Fruit Tart. She has long purple hair with a hairclip & wears a blue patterned jacket. Thus, I chose the purple and blue extensions as a homage to her color scheme.

No spa day could be complete without a pedicure. This time there was a twist.  Instead of a pre-pedicure soak  in plain old water,  I placed my feet in a fun sensory experience known as the Orbeez Soothing Spa. It was entertaining to watch the Orbeez's ,which are multi-colored balls that look just like popping boba tea pearls, expand in the water. Finally I indulged in a pedicure using the Orbeez sheer pink glitter nail polish which was the hint of sparkle I needed to feel girly and glam.  What a perfect way to end my spa session with a feeling of being pampered head to toe.

Additionally I am wearing some of my own designs, The Queenie4ever "Queenie Bubble Bath" T-shirt and Kimono Project Leggings. If you are interested in the leggings please send us an e-mail at info@Queenie4ever.com  The shirt can be purchased at Cafepress, there are a few color and shirt style options.
